Music Theory for Westies
Unlock the Music. Elevate Your Dance.

This unique workshop is designed specifically for West Coast Swing dancers who love the music – but aren’t professional musicians. If you’ve ever wondered what terms like verse, pre-chorus, or bridge really mean, or how to recognize them while dancing, this class is for you.

In Music Theory for Westies, we break down popular songs using visual tools and audio isolation techniques to reveal what’s happening beneath the surface. You’ll learn to identify individual elements like vocals, drums, or bass, and develop your ear to follow each one with intention.

We’ll explore how musical phrasing and form create cues you can feel, anticipate, and respond to, making your dancing more musical, dynamic, and confident.

Whether you’re a social dancer or a competitor, this workshop will transform how you hear music – and how you move to it.

Bella is hosting a workshop designed just for dancers who want to grow their dance personal brand on socials. She’ll be sharing how to build a scroll-stopping brand, create content that actually connects, and turn your dancing into opportunity. From posting times to conversion strategy, it’s everything dancers need to start showing up online with clarity, creativity, and confidence.

10 minutes of personal instruction with a West Coast Swing expert. A great way to get individual help with your dance goals. They will identify things to help you right away, diagnose problems and give you a customized plan for success. $15 each.  Find these in the “add ons” menu when you register. You must also purchase a session pass or EZ pass.

Two of the west coast swing world’s top instructors – Sean & Alyssa – are kicking off Swing Fling with a brand new intensive!

About the workshop:

“Structure vs Art”

Where does structure end and art begin? In this intensive, we’ll explore the balance between form and freedom — learning the underlying formulas that shape West Coast Swing, and discovering how to use them as a launchpad for personal expression.

You’ll dive into core concepts — not just to follow them, but to understand them deeply enough to bend and reshape with intention.

This intensive is perfect for dancers who want to refine their technique and unleash their creativity. Learn to recognize the blueprint — then bring your own colors to the canvas.

About the instructors:

When it comes to pushing the envelope of West Coast Swing, Sean and Alyssa McKeever and Alyssa Glanville are the couple to watch. Independently, these two Champion dancers are known for their work ethic, love of movement, and joy of sharing their art. Sean has a history as a black belt in martial arts and grew up dancing through a local ballroom program called Nordquist. Ironically, that is where he met Alyssa, a charismatic athlete who also had a deep love for dance and movement. They’ve shared the floor throughout their careers and finally have joined forces as a partnership. Between the two of them, they hold several titles in Classic, Strictly Swing, and Jack and Jills. But more importantly, they are committed to continuously growing themselves as dancers and artists, and will share that passion as they teach around the world.
